This The Ministry of Education has responded to concerns raised by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) regarding the composition and inauguration of the Governing Board of the Scholarship Authority.
In a press statement issued on behalf of the Honourable Minister for Education, the ministry stated that all critical stakeholders within the education value chain were duly consulted during the drafting and formulation of the legislation that established the Scholarship Authority. These consultations, it noted, included student bodies such as NUGS, civil society organisations, and other key education sector partners.
According to the ministry, the consultative process led to the agreement that civil society organisations would serve as the umbrella body on the Governing Board. As a result, NUGS is duly and rightfully represented on the board in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The ministry further encouraged the current leadership of NUGS to engage with its immediate past leadership to gain a clearer understanding of the representation arrangements and the processes that informed them.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness and collaborative governance, the Ministry of Education said it values the constructive contributions of all stakeholders and remains open to continued engagement in the management and development of Ghana’s education sector.
The statement was issued by the Press Secretary to the Honourable Minister for Education, Hashmin Mohammed.
