Bawku SHS Temporarily Closed Down After Shooting Incident

Authorities have temporarily closed down the Bawku Senior High School following the murder of Hakimu Kundima, a student of the school on Saturday, 27th July, 2025.

Kundima was allegedly dragged out of his dormitory by unknown men who entered the school premises by scaling the walls and shot dead on Saturday night.

The incident sent shock waves among the students who could not contain the pain of losing one of their own.

To ensure the safety of the grieving students, education authorities in the area led by the Director of Education, Isaac Agbeko Azasoo announced the closure of the school temporarily to help the grief-stricken students recover.

WASSCE IN LIMBO

The decision to close down the school comes at the time final years SHS students are beginning this year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE).

Parents and other stakeholders in the area have in the last few weeks raised concerns about the security situation following an escalation of the conflict recently.

Questions on the lips of many is how are these students going to cope with the WASSCE?
