Breaking: Third-Year Student of Bawku SHS Allegedly Shot Dead By Unknown Assailants

A third-year student of the Bawku Senior High School whose name has been given as Hakim Kundima has allegedly  been shot dead in the school premises by unknown assailants. According to a source, the assailants scaled the walls of the school on Saturday night at about 8:30PM, went into the dormitory in what is seen as a targeted act, dragged out into the compound and shot dead.

The assailants according to our source disappeared after the act. Older brother of the deceased, Tahiru Kundima when contacted confirmed the killing of Hakim. ”Yes the body of my brother has been brought to us by the Divisional Commander. He called me and told me about the incident when he had taken the body to the hospital and later brought it to us here at home”, he revealed.

When we quizzed him on what might have caused the shooting of his brother he, ”I am sure it is connected to the conflict. His name might have caused his attackers to think he is from one of the sides but he is a Moshie and we are not part of the conflict”, he stressed.

FEAR OF MORE ATTACKS

The family of the deceased is expressing fear of more attacks on other students who are from their community and have therefore called on the security agencies to provide protection for them till Sunday but channel247online.com understands that help may not come tonight.

”I requested that they escort the rest of the students who are from my area home tonight since I fear they may also be targeted but the Divisional Commander who brought my brother’s corpse home said I should contact the headmaster of the school”, he alleged.

Channel247online.com understands the deceased, Hakim Kundima will be buried tonight according to Islamic Customs.

More soon…
