The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly says it will soon embark on an exercise to arrest all stray animals in the area. The exercise according to the assembly is part of efforts to ensure cleanliness and order in the metropolis.
A circular cited by channel247online.com says, a taskforce set-up for the purpose of the exercise will pick up all stray animals including, sheep, goats and cattle found on the streets.
According to the circular, owners of the impounded animals will be required to pay a fine before their animals are released to them. Unclaimed animals will however be given out to institutions such as the police and prisons service, high schools or civil servants.
