
The Community Water and Sanitation Agency is working to deal with the water crisis in the Amenfi West District in the Western Region once and for all. According to the Deputy Chief Executive of the agency, Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, government is working to ensure every household in the area is connected to a source of portable water.
The Amenfi West area has been struggling with access to portable water as most sources have been polluted by the activities of illegal miners and other human activity. However government through the Community Water and Sanitation Agency to construct a water treatment plant to serve residents of the largely mining district.
Speaking to channel247online.com during a tour of the ongoing water treatment plant, the Deputy CEO of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha assured that the project is here to stay and that every household will be connected to plant.
The project which is been carried out in partnership with the International Water and Sanitation Center is expected to provide portable water for 2,000 households in the Amenfi West district.
Country Director of the IWSC, Vida Duti who was also present during the inspection of the project, praised the partnership with the government and urged the residents to maintain the infrastructure for long-term use.
When completed, cases of water related ailments which currently dominates Outpatient Departments of health facilities in the area will be minimized.
