Woman Absconds With Cassava Seller’s Baby At Ajumako Market

A cassava seller in the Ajumako Market in the Central Region is in tears as a strange woman has disappeared with her 11-month old baby. The trader whose name has been given as Esi Sekyiwa from the Ajumako Essaman community is said to have handed over the baby to the suspect while she sold her cassava but that the woman who is said to be in her 50s run away with the infant.

According to the distraught mother, the suspect volunteered to help with catering for the baby while she went about her duty of selling cassava, but after spending about an hour taking care of the baby, she disappeared  unbeknownst to Esi Sekyiwa.

After searching around the market to trace her missing child without success, Esi and other women in the market decided to check on the Closed-Circuit Television database where they found at that the suspect had absconded with the 11-month old baby.

The case has since been reported to the Ajumako Police with the distraught mother appealing to the public to assist in finding the baby. Some relative who spoke to the media believe the baby may be sold or used for rituals.
