Former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, Daniel Domelevo, has rejected allegations that the committee engaged in witch-hunting, stating, “If it is truly witch-hunting, it will fail in court.”
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 11, Domelevo explained that while the issues cited in the ORAL report are not conclusive, any individual who feels wrongly accused can seek redress through the courts.
“If you think that we’ve damaged your reputation, you can go to court,” Domelevo told host Bernard Avle.
Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner and former Berekum MP, Captain (Rtd.) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, has questioned the legal standing of the ORAL report.
Speaking to Channel One News on Monday, February 10, he argued that the report cannot serve as a basis for prosecution, stating that it can only act as a guide for calling individuals to explain themselves.
But the former Auditor-General contends investigation is not part of their mandate, noting that the ORAL report was based on evidence received and thereby has no locus to conduct probe into the litany of cases filed by individuals.

A Private Legal Practitioner and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum, Captain (RTD) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, analyzing the ORAL report has argued that the document cannot serve as a basis for prosecution.
He told Channel One News on Monday, February 10, that the report from ORAL can only serve as a lead and guide to call individuals to explain themselves.
But the former Auditor-General contends investigation is not part of their mandate, noting that the ORAL report was based on evidence received and thereby has no locus to sway into conducting probe into the litany of cases filed by individuals.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, the ORAL team presented its report to President John Dramani Mahama in Accra. The President subsequently handed the report to Dr. Ayine, directing him to conduct immediate investigations into the cases outlined.
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee has disclosed that it has so far received 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all the calls are recorded automatically, and the emails have also been preserved for verification and validation.
“In total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417 complaints.”
