Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the office of the Vice President and former National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has eulogised the late Samuel Aboagye,Deputy Director-Protocol for NADMO as a visionary leader whose passion for the development of his community was unmatched.
Recalling their first encounter during his tenure as NDC National Chairman ahead of the 2020 elections, Ofosu Ampofo said he was impressed when Aboagye launched his campaign in the Obuasi East Constituency with a fully developed manifesto, a first of its kind in the area outlining his vision and aspirations.
“He was a young man full of life, determined to develop his constituency despite the political challenges in the Ashanti Region and Adansi area,” Ampofo noted. He praised Aboagye’s resilience in contesting again in the 2024 elections after narrowly missing victory in 2020, even though, according to him, his 2024 win was “robbed under controversial circumstances.”
Ampofo shared that after the disputed 2024 elections, Aboagye sought mentorship from him, staying in Accra for a period as they navigated legal and emotional challenges. His appointment as Deputy Director-General of NADMO brought joy to many who believed it was a platform for him to extend his service to the people of Obuasi East and beyond.
The news of Aboagye’s death, Ampofo said, left him “broken, dumbfounded, and shattered,” describing the loss as a painful blow to his family, community, and Ghana at large.
“The vacuum he has left will be difficult to fill. But we take comfort in the belief that Almighty God, who knows best, will keep his soul until we meet again,” Ampofo concluded.
