The Ministry of Defence has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, remembering him for his visionary leadership, dedication, and enduring legacy.
Reflecting on Dr. Boamah’s legacy on behalf of the ministry’s management team at the Evening of Reflection and Memorial for the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash, Colonel Ernestina Assan described Dr. Boamah’s tenure as short but profoundly impactful.
“Through his transformative leadership and unwavering dedication, he left an indelible mark,” Col. Assan said. “His diplomatic and inclusive approach fostered collaboration, while his vision for modernizing the Ghana Armed Forces ensured readiness for contemporary challenges.”
The Ministry lauded Dr. Boamah for prioritizing the welfare of both military personnel and civilian staff, strengthening civil-military relations, and championing professionalism across all ranks.
“His passion for agriculture and digitalization brought innovation to the ministry, and his strategic communication skills elevated its public engagement,” Col. Assan noted.
She recalled his approachable demeanor, empathetic management style, and open-door policy, which encouraged staff to share ideas freely and feel valued. “His positive, productive, and progressive approach was contagious and transformative,” she added.
In its closing tribute, the Ministry described Dr. Boamah’s legacy as that of a modernized, motivated, and responsive armed forces, bidding farewell to “a leader whose service was exemplary, whose vision was transformative, and whose memory will remain eternal.”
