Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted four members of staff over their alleged failure to provide emergency medical care to a hit-and-run victim who later died.
The hospital, in a news release issued on Monday, February 23, 2026, said the affected staff comprise two medical doctors and two nurses. The interdictions, it explained, are in line with established administrative procedures and are intended to allow for a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the statement, a committee has been constituted to probe the events leading to the death of the victim and to determine whether there was any breach of professional duty or laid-down protocols in the handling of the emergency case.
“Pending the outcome of the committee’s work, the Board and Management call on all persons connected to the matter to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry,” the statement noted.
The hospital further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the delivery of quality healthcare services. It assured the public that further information would be communicated upon completion of the investigation.
The development has sparked public concern, with many calling for clarity and accountability in the provision of emergency medical services at the country’s premier referral facility.
