The Volta Regional Coordinating Counsel (VRCC) has held a night of remembrance in memory of the 8 persons who tragically lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash which occurred in the Ashanti region on Wednesday 6th August 2025.
The event held on the night of 10th August 2025, brought together members of the NDC and NPP, the clergy, various security personnel’s , Traditional leaders, heads of decentralized departments, chief imams, and the general public.
Speaking at the program, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon James Gunu described the 8 persons as people who served the country diligently in truth and humility. Emphasizing on Dr Omane Boama, he explained how he worked tirelessly to bring the NDC to power
“ Dr Omane Boama was our national election and IT director with whom I worked closely in the last election. He brought his medical expertise and experience to bear on our national architecture and tried to demystify the notion that NDC did not collate it’s election in 2020. He diagnosed our electoral architecture and found a solution and in 2024 election, we collated our results timeously and today we are in power”.
He also described Hon. Murtala Mohammed as a man of integrity with the building Ghana Agenda at heart.
Hon Mawutor Agbavitor, the NDC Volta regional chairman emphasized on their professionalism and discipline towards their work before their tragic death and urged for commitment towards the reset Ghana agenda.
“What we should take out of their death is that we must commit to the progress and reset of this country “.
He further condemned the act of galamsey and asked for drastic measures to deal with the menace in honour of their memory.
“One of the major thing that confront us as a country is the menace of galamsey. And it is sad that we have to pour blood or people must lose their lives and yet the irresponsible mining will still continue. If ever you have a conscience and think about anything good for this country, and yet you still do irresponsible mining, it’s a shame to you “.
The program ended with laying of riffs by the Volta regional minister, the chief imam, NDC Volta regional chairman, the direct dean of the 66 artillery regiment( lieutenant colonel Ibrahim) and representatives from the Ho teaching hospital.
