The Member of Parliament for Ekumfi, Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe has been sworn-in as a member of the reconstituted board for the National Investment Bank(NIB). The swearing-in which was done by the Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Ampem Nyarko signals a new phase of reform and revitalization for the state-owned bank.
The newly constituted board also includes several high-profile professionals namely Doli-wura Dr. Awushi Abdul-Malik Seidu Zakarai (Managing Director); Hon Ebenezer Kwaku Addo; Dr Mercy Naa Aku Ofei-Koranteng; Dr Shani Bashiru; Max George Cobbina; Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi; and Dr Alfred Attuquaye Botchway.
Speaking at the brief ceremony on Wednesday, July 9, Mr. Nyarko emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that NIB is steered with independence and professionalism.
“Under this new leadership, NIB will operate with the independence and professionalism it deserves.”
He also extended his congratulations to the incoming board, chaired by Mr Frank Adu Jnr, who also assumes the role of Managing Director.
He further disclosed that the government has taken a bold step to recapitalise the bank to restore confidence and improve its operations.
“I am pleased to announce that the government has made a bold decision to recapitalise NIB,” he said.
