Government has confirmed the deaths of the ministers of Defense and Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in a helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday morning. 6 other persons including, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Limuna, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, a vice chairman of the NDC, a former parliamentary candidate of the NDC as well as 3 military personnel perished in the crash while the deceased were enroute to a program in Obuasi.
Announcing the tragedy at an emergency press briefing, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah directed that all flags should fly at half-mast as the nation mourns the deceased persons.
The military helicopter reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, with initial reports indicating that some passengers on board have been burnt to death
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6.
