Asikuma to benefit from Big Push road agenda – MP

Residents of the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) Constituency are set to benefit from the government’s flagship Big Push Agenda, with construction works expected to begin in earnest in Asikuma.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Alhaji Kobina Ghansah, disclosed that contractors are already on site and preparatory works have commenced ahead of full-scale construction. He made this known during a tour of ongoing road project sites in the constituency.

According to the MP, the initiative forms part of a broader infrastructure drive promised by President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to improve road networks and stimulate development in underserved communities.

He explained that the Big Push road project will stretch from Breman Asikuma Township through Amanfrom and other adjoining communities, fulfilling a key campaign promise.

Beyond the main road, Hon. Ghansah revealed that plans are underway to rehabilitate inner roads and cocoa tracks across the constituency to ease transportation challenges for farmers and residents.

“I inherited some of the most deplorable roads in the constituency, but we have reshaped many of them, especially those leading to our villages,” he said. “As MP, I will ensure all roads are uplifted before the end of my term.”

The lawmaker further highlighted other development projects being funded through his share of the Common Fund, including the construction of schools, mechanised boreholes, and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds.

He also assured residents of ongoing efforts to address electricity extension challenges and water shortages in several communities.

Residents who interacted with the MP during the tour expressed appreciation for the road improvements already undertaken, noting that they have brought relief to many communities previously cut off due to poor road conditions.

They also pledged their continued support, expressing confidence in the MP’s ability to deliver on his promises and improve living conditions across the constituency.
