COCOSHE urges calm amid cocoa price concerns

The Ghana Cocoa Coffee Sheanut Farmers Association (COCOSHE) has called on cocoa farmers across the country to remain calm following recent concerns over adjustments in producer prices and reported delays in payments for produce sold to the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod).

In a statement signed by the National Chief Farmer, Alhaji Alhassan Bukari, the association said its National Executive Committee had taken note of both recent and planned demonstrations by some cocoa farmers who are unhappy with the current situation.

According to COCOSHE, it fully understands the frustrations and concerns of its members, stressing that the welfare of farmers remains its top priority. The leadership acknowledged the disappointment among farmers but urged them to refrain from protests while engagements with relevant authorities continue.

The association disclosed that it is actively engaging government, Cocobod and other key stakeholders to address the concerns raised by farmers and to help stabilize and strengthen the cocoa sector.

COCOSHE further assured members that leadership is working tirelessly on their behalf and encouraged farmers to remain united, patient and focused on their farming activities as discussions progress.

“Together, we will protect and strengthen our livelihoods,” the statement said, adding a call for calm and solidarity among cocoa farmers nationwide.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the interests of cocoa farmers and expressed optimism that ongoing engagements would yield positive outcomes.
