Henry Mbilla, a communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has questioned the leadership credentials of former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, describing his style as “trial and error.”
Speaking on Ahotor FM, Mbilla alleged that Dr. Bawumia and members of his family previously had close ties with the NDC, claiming that his mother and brother once held executive positions within the party. He argued that such associations raise concerns about Bawumia’s political consistency and leadership direction.
Mbilla further expressed doubts about Bawumia’s ability to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to electoral victory, insisting that the party may need to consider an alternative candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the NPP’s decision to present Dr. Bawumia again as its flagbearer for 2028 would hand the NDC a significant political advantage. He suggested that the opposition party would have little difficulty securing victory if Bawumia remains the NPP’s candidate.
Mbilla, however, praised former President John Dramani Mahama, describing his leadership as decisive and people-centred. He urged Ghanaians to maintain confidence in the NDC, assuring that the party remains focused on delivering effective governance over the next three years.
Dr. Bawumia and the NPP are yet to respond to the claims.
