Trotro Driver Crushes Into Akufo-Addo’s Residence

A commercial minibus driver, popularly known as a trotro driver, crashed into the fence wall of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s residence in Nima on the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

‎The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. The exact cause remains unclear, but eyewitnesses suspect the green trotro may have suffered a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the road into the wall.

‎According to reports, three people sustained injuries in the incident and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

‎“One of the victims was the mate. He was coughing up blood,” an eyewitness recounted.

‎The residence, located near the Nima Police Station, sits along a major traffic route frequently used by vehicles traveling from Nima to Accra, Osu, and Nkrumah Circle.

‎The incident has raised security concerns, as there are currently no metal barricades separating the fence wall from the busy street leaving the property vulnerable to such accidents.
