Deal With Recalcitrant Members: Musah Lansah To NPP Leadership

News Editor of Channel 247,   ‎Musah Lansah, has issued a strong call for discipline and strategic focus within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of  the party’s upcoming flagbearer election.

‎‎Speaking on Accra-based Assase Radio’s weekly News Analysis program “Press Pass” on Wednesday night, Mr.  Lansah stressed the need for the party’s leadership to take bold action against any acts of indiscipline or internal sabotage after the flagbearer is chosen. ”‎Once the flagbearer is elected, anyone who misbehaves or disrespects party rules must be suspended, ”he stressed.

‎According to Musah, the NPP leadership appears “too soft” in handling internal issues, a posture he believes could harm the party’s image and unity ahead of the national elections.

‎He urged the party to shift gears once the flagbearership race is concluded and that they should  put  full energy into promoting and marketing the selected candidate to Ghanaians.

‎‎“The party must rally behind its flagbearer and sell the candidate’s vision to the people. This is not the time for internal confusion or factional fights,”

‎His comments come at a critical moment for the NPP as tensions and political maneuvering intensify within the party ranks ahead of the flagbearer elections. Several political analysts have warned that the outcome of the contest could either unite or divide the party, depending on how leadership handles the post-election period.

‎The New Patriotic Party will on January 31st, 2026 organize a special delegates congress to elect a flagbearer to lead them into the 2028 Presidential elections. Since the announcement after the National Council Meeting on Tuesday, 17th June, 2025, opinions have been divided among party members with some describing the decision as a wrong one.
