My victory was a divine intervention – Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed astonishment over the magnitude of his victory in the 2024 presidential election, attributing it to divine intervention.

Mahama secured 56.55 percent of the total valid votes cast, surpassing his main opponent, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who garnered 41.61 percent of the votes.

This victory, which came as a surprise to many, also represents a significant achievement for his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which secured a majority in Parliament with over 170 confirmed seats, including key constituencies traditionally held by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This success further solidifies Mahama’s mandate as he prepares to assume the presidency once again.

During a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church, led by Reverend Stephen Wengam, Mahama urged the church to continue its support, especially as he seeks to address the country’s economic challenges in his upcoming term as president.

“In every step that I have taken, I know that the church has followed me with prayer, and especially in the run-up to this election, I know all the prayer networks that were actively praying for our success and this can not be by our might.
“I was positive that we will win but to the extent of this victory can only be God’s hand at work. It is one of the biggest endorsements that Ghana has ever given to any president”.

“This is the time that we need prayers even more because the expectations of Ghanaians are going to be even more, and we all know that the country is in a severe economic crisis, so it is going to take a lot of hard work to bring it back.

“We will expect that the church will continue to pray for us, and then we also will reciprocate that love the church has shown to us by being ambassadors and advocates for the church”.
