Bawku West DCE inspects projects, warns Zabzuago JHS contractor

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bawku West, Hon. James Ayamweigo, has inspected several ongoing development projects across the district, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the pace of work at the Zabzuago Junior High School (JHS) construction site.

During the inspection, Hon. Ayamweigo compared the progress of the Zabzuago JHS project with other projects in the district, noting that while some contractors have reached roofing stages or are nearing completion, work at Zabzuago remains at floor level. He described the situation as unacceptable and stressed that the Assembly is unhappy with the contractor’s performance.

“We are not happy with the pace of work here,” the DCE stated, adding that contractors are expected to meet agreed timelines to ensure communities benefit from government-funded projects.

The contractor for the Zabzuago JHS project apologised for the delay, attributing it to challenges with access to the site, storage of construction materials, and the Christmas break.

Hon. Ayamweigo warned the contractor to immediately speed up work to catch up with other projects in the district or face possible sanctions. He emphasised that delays undermine development efforts and deny students a conducive learning environment.

Meanwhile, the District Assembly Engineer, Mr. Moses Awarikaro, assured that the site would be closely monitored to ensure steady progress and timely completion of the project.

The inspection forms part of the DCE’s ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and timely delivery of development projects in the Bawku West District. Hon. Ayamweigo has earned praise from residents for his hands-on leadership style and commitment to delivering tangible development outcomes for the people of the district.
