Akatsi South MCE demands urgent security reinforcement

Concerns over rising criminal activity in Akatsi South have intensified after Municipal Chief Executive Daniel Dagba called for the immediate deployment of more security personnel to the municipality.

Speaking in an interview with Channel 247 journalist Thywill Enam Gaglo, Mr. Dagba said recent incidents, especially armed robbery attacks, have created fear among residents and threatened the peace the municipality has enjoyed for years.

He appealed to the relevant authorities to urgently strengthen security presence in the area to protect lives and property.

Rising insecurity worries residents

The call follows a number of reported criminal incidents, including a recent armed robbery attack in Tatorme, where gunmen reportedly targeted a local business and injured several people.

Residents say attacks that were once uncommon are becoming more frequent and more brazen. Some community members have started limiting movement at night, while traders and business owners fear further losses if the situation continues.

Call for national support

According to Mr. Dagba, the municipal assembly cannot tackle the growing security challenge alone. He urged the government and the Ghana Police Service to prioritize Akatsi South in ongoing security deployments.

He said stronger patrols, improved police visibility, and better intelligence gathering would help deter criminal activity and restore confidence among residents.

Community cooperation needed

While requesting more personnel, the MCE also encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could support investigations.

Local leaders and residents hope swift intervention will restore calm and reassure businesses and investors operating in the municipality. Many in Akatsi South remain watchful as authorities consider the request for urgent reinforcement.
