Kasoa-Winneba highway will boost tourism – John Dramani Mahama

John Dramani Mahama has said the ongoing Kasoa-Winneba highway project will boost tourism, attract investment, and create jobs in Ghana’s Central Region once completed.

Speaking during an inspection tour of progress on the Kasoa-Winneba corridor, the President noted that poor road infrastructure has slowed development and discouraged many investors from expanding into the region.

According to him, the Central Region remains one of Ghana’s most attractive destinations for tourism and business, but road congestion and limited connectivity have made access difficult for both residents and visitors.

He explained that the upgraded Kasoa-Winneba highway will improve movement along the corridor, making it easier for industries to establish factories and businesses in surrounding communities.

“If we do this road network, it will allow some of the investors to begin to open factories in this corridor and that will create jobs for the local people here”.

The President added that the project is expected to create employment opportunities for local residents while also improving transportation for traders, commuters, and tourists travelling through the area.

John Dramani Mahama also assured contractors working under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme that payments are up to date, stressing that no contractor is owed.

He said prompt payments would help accelerate construction so the project can be completed on schedule.

The President further directed the Roads Minister to consider improving feeder and side roads linked to the main highway so communities can fully benefit from the project.

He expressed hope that the completed section of the Kasoa-Winneba highway would be ready for commissioning by the end of the year or early next year.
