President John Dramani Mahama has praised the contractor working on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway project after inspecting progress on the road, assuring commuters that relief is on the way.
Speaking during his tour of the project site, President Mahama acknowledged the inconvenience motorists and residents have faced during construction but said the temporary discomfort would lead to a stronger and more efficient road network.
He recalled that when the government launched its “Big Push” infrastructure agenda, it warned the public that some disruptions would be unavoidable as major roads were upgraded.
Mahama said he understood the frustration of commuters using the busy Kasoa-Winneba stretch, but emphasized that the road works were necessary to improve transport and reduce travel difficulties.
After assessing the project, the President expressed satisfaction with both the pace and quality of work being carried out.
According to him, the contractor has done a commendable job, adding that the project demonstrates the ability of Ghanaian contractors to deliver world-class infrastructure comparable to international firms.
He said the government remains confident that the entire stretch from Kasoa to Winneba could be opened to traffic by the end of the year, or at the latest in the first quarter of next year.
The Kasoa-Winneba Highway is a key route in Ghana’s Central Region corridor and serves thousands of commuters daily. Its completion is expected to ease congestion, improve safety, and boost economic activity along the route.
