Election 2024: ‘I won’t be intimidated’ – Cynthia Morrison

The Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of attempting to intimidate her following her decision to run as an independent candidate.

This accusation comes in the aftermath of a recent shooting incident during one of her campaign rallies, which left four individuals injured.

Among the victims was Rasheed Haruna, the Nasara Coordinator for the constituency and Chris Arthur’s Campaign Chairman, who was reportedly shot in the ribs.

Following the incident, Chris Arthur, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Agona West, alleged that Morrison was somehow involved in the shooting.

In an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Hon. Morrison vehemently denied the allegations, characterizing them as unfounded attempts to intimidate her.

“This thing has never happened here, but I know because of my independence they want to intimidate me, but that will not work…they think I am here to spoil their votes but they don’t know I am here to win”, she declared.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement on October 28, 2024, assuring the public of its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the shooting incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice as the election season unfolds.
