The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that Yasarko Press will no longer be involved in the printing process in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The company was initially contracted to print ballot papers for the Oti and Western North regions
This decision follows a report from Yasarko Press indicating a fault in one of their critical printing machines, a problem that could potentially affect the quality and timeliness of ballot paper production.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the EC said it acted swiftly to reallocate the printing responsibilities. Buck Press will now handle the printing of ballot papers for the Oti region, while Acts Commercials will take on the task for the Western North region. The EC has assured the public that both companies possess the requisite expertise, and this shift will not disrupt the planned election schedule.
The Commission clarified that Yasarko Press has been a trusted partner since 1998, addressing speculations by some political figures that questioned Yasarko’s capacity.
The EC dismissed these allegations as untrue, emphasizing Yasarko’s longstanding service and reliability.
The EC confirmed that all political parties and independent candidates participating in the 2024 elections have been informed of the change in ballot paper printing arrangements.
