Police officer dead, another injured in high-speed chase

A tragic accident in Kpandai, Northern Region, on the evening of Sunday, October 20, claimed the life of one police officer and left another seriously injured.

According to a Citi News source, the officers from the Formed Police Unit (FPU) were stationed at a checkpoint when it began to rain.

Seeking shelter at a nearby filling station, they spotted two men on a motorbike. When the officers attempted to stop the men, they refused to comply.

The officers decided to pursue the men on a motorbike. During the chase, they collided with a pedestrian. The officer riding at the back was thrown off the bike, hitting his head on the ground. He was rushed to Kpandai Hospital but tragically died upon arrival.

The officer who was driving sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Kpandai District Hospital.

The two men being pursued were also involved in an accident. One of them sustained injuries and is receiving medical care, while the other has been arrested and is in police custody.
