Students of Galilea M/A Primary stranded as contractor locks up school over debt

Over a thousand pupils of the Galilea M/A Primary School in the GA South Municipality were kicked out of their classrooms by Geo Annointing Construction Limited after GETFund failed to pay the contractor of the project.

It took the intervention of the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga South, Joseph Nyani, who prevented the contractor from locking up the entire school building after he pleaded for a two-week period to address the situation.

Public Relations Officer for Geo Anointing Construction Limited, Christopher Newman, laments that efforts to reach the GETFund to pay monies owed the company have yielded no result, indicating that the contractor has had his properties confiscated by the bank for failing to pay back monies he burrowed to embark on the project.

“GETFund has failed to pay us our money since 2017 and so we decided to come and lock up the school until the money is paid. The Municipal Chief Executive for Ga South came here and he promised that in two weeks, we will get our money.

“The contractor has lost two of his properties for failing to pay back the money he borrowed from the bank to embark on the project. The teachers in the school were not happy with the move and pleaded with us but we made them understand that we need our money to also settle other issues.”
